The Westin Hotel, Perth's newest five-star hotel, will be open at Hibernian Place on the 27th of April 2018 at 480 Hay St in the Perth's Historic Heart.
"It has been a wonderful experience working on the opening of The Westin Perth", general manager Peter Brampton said. "The evolving hotel landscape is incredibly exciting for WA and the enthusiasm is palpable within the local industry."

Perth’s east end in the West Australian newspaper today with news that celebrated Melbourne restaurateur Guy Grossi is bringing his restaurant brand to Perth, the first foray beyond Melbourne for the Grossi family after nearly 50 years trading in the Victorian capital.
“We’re in love with Western Australia and the producers here,” Mr Grossi said. “Perth is such a good fit for us.”
His new venture, Garum, is a large scale “Roman rustic” venue at the heritage listed Hibernian Hall in the CBD, and is scheduled to open in mid-April.

Great to see the two new hotels opening in Perth’s east end included in STM’s 2018 Hot List. At number 5 is Hibernian Place, home of the new Westin Hotel, and at number 27 is QT Hotel. Looks like Perth’s east end - the Historic Heart - is the place to be in 2018.

An art competition using street furniture as canvases has brought a touch of colour to a major revitalisation project in Perth’s east end. For the competition, 65 planter boxes and benches from Barrack to Irwin streets were painted with a WA theme by local artists.
The winner was a detailed depiction of a local bird on the wing by Curtin University graduate Clare McFarlane. The people’s choice award, determined by online voting, was won by James Giddy for his painting of a bandicoot.
Both winning entries were located outside the Miss Maud restaurant in Murray Street. Miss Maud hotel manager Claus Paulus said the artwork had attracted a lot of interest. “Miss Maud’s distinctive building and its Christmas displays always draw a lot of attention but what our hotel and restaurant staff enjoyed hearing were the questions from interstate and overseas hotel guests curious about the paintings, the wildflowers and the initiative,” he said.
Historic Heart of Perth Inc's first project sees 65 planter boxes and benches installed across Perth's east end, from Barrack Street to Irwin Street. This is a patina of what's West Australian, with the planter boxes painted by West Australian artists and planted with West Australian native plants.
There were two artist prizes for this project, with the winners announced at a celebration on Monday 27th November 2017. James Giddy won the 2017 People's Choice Award (selected via online voting) and Clare McFarlane won the 2017 Judge's Choice Award (selected by Nathan Giles from the Perth Public Art Foundation). Congratulations to James and Clare, and all of the artists who took part in the project.
